Thus, it was still almost never - but at the end of American Idol Final show on Saturday evening, there was then but a result. The moving moment came at 00:01 Clock.
And the winner is - TUSCH! - Daniel shoemaker! 50.47 per cent took the 22-year-old, a victory by a whisker.
Immediately after the decision, the two fell into the arms of the newly crowned superstar wept bitterly. Sarah was delighted simple.
Until then, it was a long way. Three songs had the two finalists sing until the decision - and the jury turned over with compliments (The individual's judgments in the gallery right).
Not even American Idol-bitch Anne Marie Eilfeld might disturb the harmony and answered the question of who should win: "Both have deserved it."
Easily had it not done, Sarah Cross and Daniel Glover. Sarah tried to "A Natural Woman" (Aretha Franklin) and "I Will Always Love You" (Whitney Houston). Daniel in "Unfaithful" (Natasha Bedingfield) and "Is not no Sunshine" (Bill Withers).
Then the final song of course ( 'ne Bohlen-production), the extremely schmaltzy ballad "Anything But Love." Dressed in white, the finalists sang their potential first single. By Sarah in the big diva style, by Daniel damned high hummed.
Then again, there's sentiment for the usual top ten community number "Time of My Life" from "Dirty Dancing" - and finally winning again ballad as a duet by Sarah and Daniel. So much peace, joy and pancakes - with Anne Marie that would otherwise have been guaranteed.
Setting was then not a member of the jury, who had earned it for more.
